At the age of 14, I went to my first garage sale. The night
before this momentous occasion, I asked my father what to expect. He
said it would be like “guerilla warfare.” I thought this
was an odd statement at the time, but now, after five years (and counting)
of “attacking” hundreds of them, I know what he meant. Although
my father sometimes has a penchant for being overly dramatic, going to
garage sales for the serious minded entrepreneur has many parallels to
that distinct form of unconventional warfare. Author/Bio Generating extra income isn’t easy unless you know what you’re doing. However, my book Guerilla Garage Sales provides techniques that can help anyone who is motivated by making extra money; anyone can profit by reading this book, such as stay-at-home spouses, high school kids, and retirees. Readers can manage their own business at home; the book demonstrates proven business practices that work. The book is divided into three sections: Acquiring and Evaluating Inventory, Operating Your Business Efficiently and Record Keeping, and The Electronic Ad. My book clearly connects proven garage sale buying techniques with re-selling on eBay (and other sites), the world’s largest online marketplace. Ninety-five percent of eBay sellers are individuals and 19 million people visit that site at any given time. Also, in a city of 100,000 people, every weekend you’ll find 50-100 garage sales and other buying opportunities. I haven’t found a book yet that brings these two elements together and explains in detail how to run a business based on buying what people don’t want and making a profit on the resale by using the Internet. This is exactly what I’ve been doing for five years. I have participated in well over 10,000 online transactions with an overall 99.8% Positive feedback rating. I am an eBay Power Seller. My book explains how to judge which garage sales to visit without leaving your home, how to buy efficiently once you’re there, and gives step-by-step instructions on how to successfully sell the merchandise. Again, I’m Austin Cash Hoffman, and this
is my first book. Guerilla Garage Sales techniques
work for me: I just paid cash for my new vehicle. They can work for anybody.
I’m a full-time honor student, successful part-time business owner,
and aspiring writer. Please excuse me, but I’ve got to get back
to work. 2004 & 2006 TCU Texas Youth Entrepreneur of the Year:
